How to schedule your day around Hallstatt? What are the attractions that I can not miss? Let's view from the top of the mountain and visiting the most attractive village in Austria.

In this article, I am going to talk about two locations, "Hallstatt" and "Dachstein Krippenstein". By sharing some basic background, features, and the attractions around. Then, the following part will be sharing my own travel experience and all the details. Of course with lots of photos. Now let's get started !!

  • 📍 Location
"Hallstatt" is a village that sits in Upper Austria. The "Hallstatt See" is right next to it. The village is surrounding by mountains. During the summertime, you can have fun in the lake with all the different activities. In the winter period, snow has arrived and it covered basically every building in the village, including the mountains around. The view must be breathtaking. Thinking of Hallstatt is well-known for its rich salts source in the mountains. In the past, the residents make a huge amount of money through this industry. In the year 1997, Hallstatt is listed as a world cultural heritage. Nowadays, this village has attracted millions of visitors every year because of its special location and natural environment.

"Dachstein Krippenstein" is a place that is pretty close to Hallstatt. With the cable car company running, you can arrive at the top of the mountain really easily and safely. In this region, there are many different natural wonders. You can find a cave in the mountains in which the temperature around is under the freezing point. And also some caves with mammoth fossils. Some hiking paths and climbing trails are around. Besides, during winter, this place is also a famous skiing paradise. It is quite popular with the locals. And of course, the view on the top of the mountains is stunning, and that is the whole point of this magical place.

Through this image, it shows the village Hallstatt and the location of Dachstein Krippenstein.
You are also allowed to find the train station (Hallstatt Bahnhof & Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof)

  • How to get there?  Public Transportation 🚉 /  Car 🚘/ Bicycle 🚴
Public Transportation 🚉
If you are planning to visit by public transportation, both buses and train are available. You can schedule your own plan by where you want to go and by your budget. There are two bus stations that you can hop on, and it carries you to both "Hallstatt" and "Dachstein Krippenstein". Station "Bad Ischl" and station "Hallstatt Gosaumuhle".  Which is bus number 542 (No. 542) and number 543 (No. 543).

Bad Ischl(No. 542) → Hallstatt Gosaumuhle(No. 543) → Hallstatt(No. 543) → Dachstein Krippenstein

If you're taking trains, station "Hallstatt Bahnhof" and station "Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof" will be the ones we are looking for. After getting off at Hallstatt Bahnhof, you will have to take the shuttle boat (at Hallstatt Boat Station) to take you across the lake to the other side. And that is the place we want to visit. Although it sounds way complicated than taking a bus, the scenery seen from the lake is totally different from what we see on the road. Highly recommended to take the boat. In addition, after hopping off at Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen Bahnhof, you will have to take bus No. 543 to arrive at Dachstein Krippenstein.

And of course, you can always change between buses to train and the boat. There is no so-called "perfect" way to schedule the plan. The perfect way will be the one that fits your time schedule and all the details that you come up with. In the coming up section, I am going to share with you how I transfer from place to place by different public transportation and all the details.

Car 🚘
Traveling by car, the only thing we need to do is to type in the location "Hallstatt" and "Dachstein Krippenstein" on Google Maps. Although it will show you the place and take you there, you will have to find a parking lot. Hallstatt is a small village that builds along the lake, there is no much space. With a huge number of visitors every day worldwide, a parking space is difficult to find. Here I recommend a location called "Hallstatt Parking 2". I would say that this parking lot has the most spots. And for "Dachstein Krippenstein", they have their own parking space right next to the entrance with enough parking spots. You can basically find one no matter when you visit.

Bicycle 🚴
Austria is a country with fresh air and nice weather throughout the year. Cycling around the country is a really nice thing to do. No matter for the locals or the tourist, to bike, is always an option to move around from place to place. For all the one who is planning to bike to those locations. Search the place on Google Maps then you will get there. The advantage of cycling around is that you can have a closer look at what is around you. No matter the people or the environment. Just think about how cool and how many unique experiences you may have during the trip. That is the exciting part.

Village Hallstatt and its attractions around

If you already have a list of places that you want to visit in Hallstatt. That is great. Which means that you have done lots of research. However, if not. Besides searching for some information online, I would love to recommend that you keep its surprises and visit the tourist office in Hallstatt once you arrive there. So, yes, on the main street in Hallstatt, they have their own tourist office, "Tourist office Hallstatt - Dachstein Salzkammergut". Having some nice check and view in the office may give you some idea. Sometimes, you might just run into a special event. And one great thing about the office is that you can always ask for the price, and somehow they might have a special discount using one of the handbooks that lay on the shelf. Now, I would love to share the most famous attractions in Hallstatt.

1. The viewpoint of Hallstatt | Recommend: ★★★★★
What kind of picture you can find on the internet when you search for Hallstatt? I guess everyone knows that. It is the one with a church beside the lake with mountains surrounding it. Now, where I am showing is the place that you get exactly the same photo that you search on Google.  In different seasons, there are different vibes. Spring and summer carry out the green and the sun. Autumn changes the color of the leaves into red/ orange and brown. During winter, everything is covered by snow and the lake is frozen. This is a place that brings you different feelings whenever you visit.

One thing to be noticed, this viewpoint gonna be full of tourists. And with lots of tourists, there is a high chance that pickpocket is right next to you. Always make sure your property is on you and be careful. Make no chance for the robbers.

2. Evangelische Pfarrkirche Hallstatt | Recommend: ★★★★☆
Another attraction in Hallstatt will be the church that appears in the picture that I show above. No matter where you at in Hallstatt, you can always view this building. The minaret is very conspicuous. The original main building of this church can be traced back to around 1765. After a hundred years, it became what it is today after some renovation/construction in 1863.

In front of the church

Having a look on the main street

As we have mentioned earlier, in the past, Hallstatt is a place rich in salt. For the locals, they wanted to show the tourists that how this industry works in the past. So now here comes the "Salzbergwerk Hallstatt", a place for tourists to know more about the industry's historical stories and to experience the environment of the workers in the past.

This activity takes around 3 hours. The location of Salzberwerk Hallstatt is on a hill. If you got plenty of time and want to save some money, you can hike there. However, if not. You can choose to take the mountain train. The train station is next to a yellow-cover building. The place is called "Salzwelten Hallstatt". You can get all kinds of tickets here.

One sad news to tell you guys is that I didn't join this activity due to the time limit. I definitely gonna visit Hallstatt again and at that time, I will sign up for this event. However, if any of you reading this and had experienced all this. Please comment below how you feel about it and let us help each other out!!

From this viewpoint, you are standing above Hallstatt village. If the weather is nice, you can even see the city "Obertraun" from 2 km away. Lots of tourists love to take photos here. You can not blame them. Because the view is stunning. Hallstatt See is right below, the mountains are around you. And plus if it is a sunny day with blue sky and clouds. Damn, perfect.

To visit the viewpoint, you have two options. One is to hike here. The second is to take the mountain train. And the train is the same one that takes us to the Salzverwerk Hallstatt. At the same starting point, "Salzwelten Hallstatt". I guess this attraction gonna be a five out of five, highly recommended place. However, I can not guarantee that. Because I did not visit this place. But, there is reason and I am going to tell you why below when sharing my own experience of the trip.

5. The main road by the lake | Recommended: ★★★★★
I would say that Hallstatt is a small village that you can walk around in 2 hours. And there is only one main street. It is the one beside the lake. All the shops, including the hotels, restaurants, souvenir stores...etc. If you are tired, you can always sit on a bench on the road that is by the lake just to relax and enjoy the moment.

To support the locals and be a good tourist is all we can do. Do not leave the trash on the street or in the lake, throw them in the can. Stay vigilant at all times and don't let thieves have any chance.

Part of the main street

The square is on the main street. And lots of shops to explore.

Attractions around Dachstein Krippenstein | And the event you can join

The graph below is the handbook that I get from Dachstein Krippenstein when I visit it during 2020 in summer. From the image, you can have a quick view of the attractions and a clear mind of what is around this place. So let's get started.

Before sharing what kind of activities they have in the mountains. Want to talk about the business hours during the summertime period and the cost of each activity. From July till September, the cable car starts from 8:40 in the morning and the last one going down from the top will be at 18:50. You can have a better idea by going through the image down below.

About the price of the cable car. You have three different prices. It depends on your request and your needs. So, the different cable car lines are distinguished by three colors. Green, blue and orange. You can purchase them separately. I will suggest knowing which attractions you want to visit before you go, so you won't spend any extra money on it.

Here comes the three activities that cost around this area. The Dachstein giant ice cave, Mammut cave, and the koppenbruller cave. Each event takes you around 50-60 minutes. And you have to book it in advance. I know it might sound complicated. However, please hear me explain. It is quite easy.

Once you purchase the event from the counter, their member will ask you to exit at the first stage of the cable car and go for the information. After that, the staff will apply you the schedule of the event. Then if you're okay with it, they will write the time on the back of your card just to remind you.  Then you're free to go. Just show up at the right time and the right place.

As you can see, if you check the image below. You will find out that other attractions show in yellow. Which represents the Welterbespirale viewing platform/ 5fingers and Dachstein shark. They are all outdoor and free to visit. It offers the tourist a perfect place to take photos and enjoy the scenery.

1. 5fingers | Recommended : ★★★★★
This overview point is upon the top of the mountain. High above basically everything around you. Once you exit the second stage of the cable car. Follow the sign on the road, then you may get there within 30 minutes. As its name, five fingers. We are expecting that this overview point is shaped like a hand with five fingers. And it is!! Five gingers give you five different directions to explore the view.

I would say you will have to be brave and not afraid of heights because this place is built right next to the cliff. Plus under it is a 400 meters abyss. However, because of its special location, makes the perfect view. Besides, you may want to chill out around this attraction and rest here for a couple of minutes. And it is totally okay. To sit on a bench or having a picnic on the grass and relax is absolutely suitable. At the same time, please mind the trash you made. Don't leave them in nature, trash them in the can or bring them home with you. Let us make the environment better together.

2. The Dachstein Shark | Recommended :  ★★★☆☆
The Dachstein shark is the latest attraction in the Heilbroner circular trail. It takes approximately 30 minutes to hike there and another 45 minutes back. The shark is made out of metal and it is around 8 meters high. What a masterpiece. Besides taking pictures of the shark from outside. You are also allowed to climb into the shark and reach your hands and head out from its mouth.

3. Dachstein Giant Ice Cave | Recommended : ★★★★☆
No matter when you visit the ice cave. The temperature in the cave stays under freezing point all year long. This is why the ice doesn't melt. This activity offers you the chance to embark on a breathtaking adventure through rock and ice. The origins of this jewel of nature are revealed by stalactites in every color.

The unique rope bridge with its length of 35 meters leads over the ice abyss. The guided cave tour will whisk you away into the fantastic underworld of the Dachstein and features some spectacular new highlights.

4. Mammut cave
This cave is one of the largest Karst caves in the world impresses with its size, variety of shapes, and spectacular artistic installations. Almost 70 km of the cave labyrinth has been explored, so where else could you get a better impression of the wide range of shapes of the cave world than here. The guide man will take you through gigantic cave passages, impressive rock cathedrals and explain how they were formed. Interplays of light and shadows and a laser installation add special effects.

5. Other activities you may be interested in
In addition to what we have just mentioned above, there are more things to do. For example, rock climbing and para shooting. You can experience all the different kinds of outdoor activities here. According to your request and need, they may adjust and try to fit what you ask for. You can always tell them what you need and expect first, everything may be possible. For more detailed information, feel free to check through the link, "Dachstein Krippenstein Official Website".

Own Travel Experience

In 2020, I had visit Hallstatt and Dachstein Krippenstein twice in March and June respectively. In this article, I will be focusing on the trip I went on in June. The difference between visiting in March and June will be the weather. In March, the snow is still around, especially on the top of the mountain. If you want to visit, for example, the 5fingers. You will have to rent special equipment from the company to make you walk safely in the snow. If you're interesting what is that all about. I had written another article to share with you. Feel free to read it through the link below.

Now, let us start one of my most exciting trips around Austria. So this is how I arrange my schedule. In the early morning, we gonna visit Dachstein Krippenstein first. Then Hallstatt in the evening. There are a couple of reasons for it.

First, I am going to travel by train. From where I live, city Wels. There is a straight one from Wels to Obertraun. Which is perfect for me. Then transfer by bus number 543, we can arrive at Dachstein Krippenstein. Second, I always feel that the weather gonna be better in the morning in the high mountains. And it will start to be foggy or even raining in the afternoon. I know there is no logical and scientific basis, but that is how I feel about the weather on top of the mountains. So, yeah, those are the reason why and that becomes our plan for the day trip.

After visiting Dachstein Krippenstein, we will take bus number 543 again to Hallstatt. To explore the village and walk around. Take some awesome pictures and enjoy the moment. Then take the shuttle boat that crosses the lake to the other side to catch the train back to Wels.

Train to Obertraun. What a shinning day.

It takes around 2.5 hours from Wels to Obertraun in one way. That is a lot of time. It spends more than taking the train from Wels to Vienna. Anyway, because of spending lots of time on the train, we are at the limit of time. Have to wake up in the early morning to catch the first train of the day.

Here are some tips to save some time during a trip and also some money. That is making your own lunch. For me and my friend. We make our own sandwiches during this trip, carry some shacks and drinks with us, and plan to have a picnic on the top of the mountain. There is nothing cheaper than the food you get from the supermarket. Of course, if you want to have a formal and fantastic dining experience on the top of the mountain. You can book a table in advance.

The view from the Obertraun train station, what a peaceful town. (photo took in March 2020)

After arriving at the Obertraun train station, search "Obertraun Abzw Bahnhof Dachsteinhöhlen" on Google Maps and follow the path. You may get to the bus station in 5 minutes by walking. It is nearby. You can find the timetable of bus number 543 at the bus station. Make sure when the next bus gonna arrives. That will be the one.

Once you hop on the bus, the driver will ask you for the pay. You can prepare the coins in advance. Otherwise, it will take some time to get the right amount of money. If there are lots of tourists. There is gonna be a line. Can not remember the exact amount. It is somewhere between 2-3 euros. If your teenager or a kid, there will be a special price for the ticket. The driver might not ask you, but to can always bring it on to them. That is your right.

The station we are approaching is called "Obertraun Dachsteinseilbahn Talstation". You can tell the driver where you want to go once you hop on the bus. Just to make sure it is the right bus and the correct directions. Usually, the drivers are friendly to the tourists. If you show or tell them where you want to go. Once we arrive at the place. The drivers gonna turn their necks and search for you. Making sure that you know this is the station. Within 20 minutes, we are at the bottom of the hill and gonna take the cable car up to the top.

This is the entrance of the cable car. You can get the ticket right next to it in a house made of glass.
(photo took in March 2020)

In the above, I have mentioned there are three stages of the cable car and three main events that charge. This time we purchase the one with two-stage of cable cars and the event of exploring the Dachstein giant ice cave. We are so exhilarated.

The counter staff told us to exit on the first stage of the cable car and go for the information over there to check the schedule for the Dachstein giant ice cave tour. This event takes you around 50 minutes to an hour. It usually starts at the hour so it is quite easy to remember. Plus the time is written on your card. If you forget or are not sure about it. You can always double-check the card.

When we arrive Dachstein Krippenstein. It is almost 11:00. And our session of the event is at 14:00. So we decided to hang around this area and have our lunch here and enjoy ourselves. This place feels like in the valley. The tall cliff is around and so do all the green. With the breeze and the sunshine, it is perfect. It is quite nice that they offer outdoor seats for the tourists.

After you exit the first stage of the cable car.
You can see that many people enjoying themselves under the sunshine.

By the way, although this is the perfect place to relax and recharge yourself, do not forget the time for the appointment. The counter staff might not tell you that from the exit of the cable car to the entrance of the cave, it will take you more than 10 minutes to walk there. And it is not only a walk, but it is also more like a hike. As for the path that you can see from the picture above. The one that goes all the way into the forest and going upward. That is the way.  Make sure you get enough time for it

Standing in front of the cave, you can feel the cold immediately. It is the air that breathed from the cave.  Let's make this clear. The temperature around us is around 22 degrees. In this kind of situation. You might forget to bring a jacket or sweater with you. However, the average temperature inside the cave is under the freezing point all year long. Trust me, if you are the one only wearing shorts and try to join this one-hour tour. You have to watch out. It is so fucking freezing cold. Remember to bring at least a jacket with you. Promise me, bring it with you. IT IS WORTH IT!!

This tour gonna start in ten minutes. Here comes the guy to check your tickets and everything. Make sure everyone is comfortable. As you know, Austrian speaks German. So do the commentator. For someone like me who can not speak German fluently. It is a bit of pity. However, it will not reduce the interest in this exploration.

From the handbook that you can find in any cable car station. Inside the book, there's a QR code that you can scan. And it will lead you to an App, a free audioguide that supports more than 5 different languages. You can rather listen to it before you join the tour or listen during the tour. It both works. And don't forget, the main mission during this activity is to have a closer and a better view of the cave itself and the ice burg.

The audio guide App that you can find in the handbook

After checking the tickets, we are asked to move into an area that is between the outside world and the cave. It is a buffer. The main function of this place is to let everyone get used to this low temperature and low light environment around us. To be honest, it is truly dark. Like you can not see your fingers when you put them right in front of your face. In this place, the commentator will turn on and off the light several time to make sure that the guest is okay and getting used to the dark.

However, in the group, there is a young litter girl who started to cry so bad. Although her parents try to make her feels comfortable and safe. She just can't stop crying. In the end, there is nothing we can do but bring the litter girl out of the dark buffer.

Now we are finally entering the cave. At first, it is defiantly colder than when we are in the buffer. And more humid. Then comes the stairs, lots of them. We are going down and down. If you are planning to visit the place in the future, but going to travel with an elder or a young kids. Hope you think twice.Because the stairs and the floor inside the cave are wet and slippery. Watch out and be careful.

During the tour, you can see all kinds of different shapes of the icicle everywhere. And the commentator will explain why and how this is made by the time. And some interesting historical stories when the scientist discovers this place.

It is so dark inside. But to make the tourists walk safely. They furnishing some lights on the pathway.

Summarizing the tour of this expedition, three main things actually caught my eyes and make me surprise. The first one is where there is a section that when we are in a very large and open space. At the bottom of this area, there is a mechanical bear with the performance of lights and sounds. The light goes through the entire space and matches the roaring sound of the bear, which is actually quite spectacular.

The second is when we enter the region full of large icicles. I mean to see real icicles is cool, but no surprise because people are already expecting to see them before coming. However, with sound and light show performance. It is a different level thing. It makes this whole process more memorable and enjoyable.

The third one is the highlight of all. There is a 35-meter suspension bridge that we will have to cross. And underneath it is a terrain full of icicles. When crossing the bridge, you can feel nature's supernatural craftsmanship. Of course, you can not miss the lights and music. With them, you feel like you are in a movie. An action movie. It makes you nervous and raises your heart speed. I don't know whether to praise the Austrians for designing this trip attentively or saying that they are just very good at catching people's minds and marketing. This is defiantly worth your visit.

This is the 35-meters suspension bridge. Due to the cold, my hands at that time is shaking so bad.
Sorry for the blurred photo.

This 50 minutes tour is totally worth it. If you are a person who loves nature and interesting in rocks and minerals. You will enjoy it so much and learn a lot. For us, the only thing we miss inside the cave is the heat and the sun. Without any jacket and sweaters. You can consider us as a popsicle walking around. Once we have a chance to stand under the sun again. We run towards it. The way back to the cable car station is the same path we hike up here. The next stop, top of the mountain, and it is time for the view.

This is the view you can see when you are out of the cave.
And in the picture, you can clearly see the city of Obertraun.

After transport by the second stage of the cable car, we are finally here on the highest point. The weather is perfect. The air is fresh and the sky is blue. We are lucky!! Once you exit the cable car station. There are lots of things you can do and it is all showing on the board. And it also shows the time you need to hike there. This is very helpful for someone who has a time limit.

This time, the attractions that we want to visit will be the Dachstein shark and the 5fingers viewpoint. For the Dachstein shark, it takes you 30 minutes to hike there in one way. So do the 5fingers, it is about the same time. So we plan to stay around 2-3 hours. Recommend to bring sunglasses with you too. Even during summer, there is still snow left on the top of the mountain. The direct reflection of sunlight on the eyes is very harmful to the retina.

The view on Dachstein Krippenstein, and the endless mountains

Let us start hiking toward the Dachstein shark. The signs on the road are clear. Follow them then you will not get lost. Plus there are lots of tourists. It is hard to get lost. You can always say hi or wave to other hikers. Asking about the condition of the road ahead.

Like when we were halfway through, the snow is getting thicker and thicker. Some of my friends do not have the right shoes to walk on in. So we decided to ask other hikers how the condition of the road forward. The answer we get is the snow is gonna be thicker than ever. After a group discussion, I will continue and road and reach the Dachstein shark. And the other will return to the station and wait for me or just hang around here. The scenery along the road is beautiful and you can play with the snow on your way there.

Follow the sign and the road will not be wrong

The part that the road is still covered by the snow

The wooden building that stands on the top, and it is getting farther

After many hardships, I finally arrive at the Dachstein shark. To be honest, standing right next to an 8-meter high shark. It is quite spectacular. However, if you ask is it worth the 80-minute hike just to have a closer and better view of the shark statue. I don't think so.

The Dachstein shark is cool but doesn't "WOW" me. Actually, the view along this trail is basically the same. No much different. And the trail itself isn't friendly for young kids and elders. The path is full of rocks and sometimes covered with snow. Recommended for someone who plans to stay one full day at the top of the mountain and try to make the most of the time. If you do not have much time, you can skip this attraction.

A closer look at the Dachstein shark

The shark and the view in front of.

Some information about this shark.

In addition to being an installation artwork, you are actually allowed to enter the shark by its side. Following the stairs inside, will lead you all the way up to the top. Then you can put your hands out or even your head out. If you have someone helping you taking pictures from outside, you will have really dope photos.

An angle for inside the shark

After finish visiting this Dachstein shark attraction. It is time to head to the 5fingers overview point. At this point, you are allowed to view Hallstatt see and its surrounding cities and mountains. The beauty and the shock of the scenery are really beyond words. Let us describe it with the photos!!

The scenery from 5 fingers. On the left-hand side, we can see the village Hallstatt.
And on our right side, it is the city Obertraun. (The photos is taken in March 2020)

It is me in the photo. As you can see, the place where I am standing is on glass.
And below it is a 400 meters abyss. (The photo is taken in March 2020)

After heading back from 5fingers, while we were waiting in line for the cable car. There are many goats around. They were really cute and close to people. You can see many children chasing around and lots of tourists taking photos, including me. Super lovely. Let us watch a short video.

The goats are on the rock. How many goats did you find in this picture?

Leaving the mountain, our next stop will be Hallstatt. We took bus number 543 there. It is a straight bus. On the bus, my inner mind is both excited and afraid. Because in my heart, Hallstatt is a perfect town. It is a 10/10. Any unpleasant experience may be a little disappointment for me about this place. It is a trip, so I can not control what to happen and what not to. However, there are few last things I wish not to happen. Too crowded, noisy, or run into pickpockets. Once we arrive, so far so good. Everything is perfect. And the scenery at the bus station is already catching my eye.

View from Hallstatt bus station

After arriving, we walked all the way along the lakeside street. This is the main street in Hallstatt. There are many different souvenir shops/hotels and restaurants. Walk in no rush and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. One of the benefits of a self-guided trip is that you can schedule your time as you wanted. Shop as you want, rest as you need. Seeing the swans on the lake, I unconsciously want to interact with them. The whole trip is peaceful and joyful so far.

Another corner of Hallstatt (The photo is taken in March 2020)

I had viewed this town through the lakeside path. We are so satisfied. Although in Hallstatt, joining the Salzbergwerk Hallstatt tour and visiting the overview point is a kind of must-do. However, due to the time limit, we can not join the Salzberwerk Hallstatt tour. And for the overview point, because we have been to Dachstein Krippenstein in the morning, it is a place that is higher than the viewpoint than in Hallstatt. So for us, there is no need to spend two sums of money to do similar things. Those are only our personal thoughts. For reference only. If we have enough time and no budget for the trip, we will defiantly visit as many attractions as we can.

After finishing this refreshing trip, we need to take the shuttle boat to cross the lake to catch the train back to Wels. The boat station on the Hallstatt site is near the church. Search for "ATO Hallstatt Market Boat Station" on Google Maps and you gonna find it. There is no need to buy tickets online in advance. Buy the ticket at the boat station is fine. A one-way ticket is around 3 euros.

When we are waiting for the boats, we discovered that it was possible to rent a wooden motorboat or a boat with only oars to ride in the lake. However, it was too late when we discovered that. The store is closing and we are leaving. Watching them busily drove the boats to the designated location. It feels sad just because we miss it. At the same time, I am thinking of how cool will it be if we really have a chance to drive a boat in this magical place. Anyway, we miss it. But it makes us another reason to travel back to Hallstatt again!!

The last group of tourists rents the boat. A swan is following it.

The busiest worker ever.

A boat that was lost in the middle of the lake.

On the shuttle boat, it gives another angle and another different way to look at this village. And still, it is a sweet and diligent town. During the trip, there are not many tourists and it is really lucky. Probably it is because it is 2020 at the time and the border is not open. So they have really good control of the visitors. The whole trip is cozy and quite chill. With the boat driving away from the station, Let me show you some photos I took. Enjoy!!

A different angle to check Hallstatt out

Goodbye Hallstatt

Approaching the boat stop across the lake. Once we arrive, have a short hike leading you to the train station. With all the memories and nice photos and experiences. I am so satisfied. This is it. This is the one-day trip from Wels to Dachstein Krippenstein to Hallstatt when back to Wels.

For someone who might want to have a better and deeper understanding of those places. It is probably better for you to have two days. One for Dachstein Krippenstein and one for Hallstatt. However, for us, we don't really have that much time and the main reason is that the train ticket is quite expensive. So we try to visit it at once. Yeah, hope this article helps you with planning your own trip to Upper Austria.

Also, feel free to comment down below. Any idea or response will help me a lot. And make me more efficient in writing and posting blogs!! Your own experience of visiting those places. Or even sharing pictures will be cool. I appreciate.
