Hiking experience sharing and some tips for the hike/ Is the hike suitable for the beginner?

Google the word "Schoberstein", then you can find the place you're looking for. This mountain is located in the south part of lake Attersee. When you arrive there, you may see a hotel called "Hotel Post". Next to the hotel, you may see a narrow pathway that is built with rocks. Follow the trail, then after 10-15 minutes, you will see a white house called "St. Nikolaus Kapelle" (If you're not sure, this location can also be found on Google maps). After all this, the hike began. The altitude roughly started at 470m and all the way up to 1040m. It should take 3.0 hours to go on a round trip. 

🚗  To get there, the easiest way will be to drive. Search for the place "Schoberstein" or the place "Weißenbach" then just follow the GPS. 

🚞  🚌  If you are the one visiting by public transportation (just like me), then you will have to get off the train at the station "Bahnhof Kammer-Schörfling", then take the bus number 562, it takes around 25 minutes from the train station to "Weißenbach am Attersee". There are only three or four shifts a day, so always check the schedule before you plan to visit here. You can always buy the bus ticket on the bus or with the OBB app. OBB website

Own Experience

The time I visit this place is in May, the breeze is quite chill and the temperature is around 10-20 degrees. When I get off the bus, I have no idea where to start the trail and the hike, because there is just no sign at all. So I walk around with google maps and try to figure it out. After I pass the narrow stairs, then this huge rock caught my eyes. So if you're not sure where is the right path or getting confused by the woods around, find this massive rock then you are on the right way. After hiking for another half an hour, there are beaches and a wooden table that you can enjoy your snacks and keep hydrated. By the way, the view is already AMAZING!!!

Just keep hiking, keep hiking, then the environment around you will be changed.  At first, the woods are around you, but once you go higher, more rocks will appear, and the trail will be steeper. There are some photos below that I took on my way to the top of the mountain. You can see a cave on your way, and some part that you even have to hold the rope just to keep you safe.  Once you get to the top of the mountain, the view is even better. You can have 360 views and the lake Attersee is right below. Take your time on the top and rest. You deserved it !!

After the hike, I am exhausted. However, as you can see, the lake Attersee is just right next to us. So I walk an extra kilometer to the south to the sandy coast to chill and play in the water. While I am listening to my music from the speaker. Saw some locals rising up the fire and start to grill the food they brought. At the same time, I feel like that is how you live your best life, to "work hard and play hard". Hanging out with your friends and live the moment. 

Is the hike suitable for the beginner?

If you don't have the habit of hiking or mountain climbing, then I suppose that this hike might be quite a challenge for you. Because the difference of the altitude changes rapidly and at some part of the hike, you will have to kind of climb on the rock. At the same time, the fear of heights needs to be overcome. However, you will never know if you ever try. Maybe you will find out yourself quite good at this. The point I am trying to make is to go for it. But there is an additional condition. Never go hiking alone. Always go with a group. Therefore, you can try out your limit in a safe way and having fun at the same time.
